Group Benefits Costs, Contributions, and Eligibility
Costs vary with your group's headcount, ages, county, plan design, network, and funding model. Florida does not set a universal employer contribution percentage. A carrier may set a minimum employer contribution, but it must apply it the same way to every small group with the same number of eligible employees (Fla. Stat. § 627.6699(5)(e)2.); above that minimum, how much you put toward employee-only and dependent premiums is your call. A group that can’t meet a carrier’s contribution or participation minimum can still enroll from November 15 to December 15.
Participation minimums are set by each carrier, so we check them against your census before we quote. For detailed Florida small-group eligibility, 2026 cost ranges, and the current carrier list, read our small business health insurance in Florida guide.
How Florida contribution rules work
- Employee-only premium — the carrier’s minimum or more
- Dependent premium — within carrier rules, your call
- Florida sets no required percentage
For Your Employees
A Private Benefits Guide, Built for Your Team
Open enrollment shouldn't mean a stack of PDFs and a week of repeated questions. When your group joins ThirdWave, we build your team a private benefits guide — one page where every employee can see what's covered, what it costs each paycheck, and who to call.
- A per-paycheck cost calculator and side-by-side plan comparisons, so employees see their real cost before they enroll
- Medical, dental and vision (and any additional offered benefits), enrollment steps, and required notices — all in one place
- Password-protected and private to your team, never indexed or searchable
- Built, hosted, and kept current by ThirdWave — nothing for you or your HR team to maintain
